A woman carrying eucalyptus spouts to be planted in a reforestation campaign. The rapid increase in population, Rwanda has one of the highest population densities in Africa at 500 inhabitants per square kilometre,is increasing pressure on forests in terms of encroachment and deforestation. The Rwandese people benefit from the restored forests through improved food security and poverty alleviation. This is due to the role that forests play in the prevention of land degradation and protection of watershed.
